How in the world…

I’ve had my 160GB of storage for about one and a half years, and I’ve got only around 25 GB, which is just enough for defragmenting my partitions. I have 4 partitions, Cayman (C), Carrera S (D), Carrera GT (E) and Turbo (F) named after…? (Answers in comments, please).

Thing is that Cayman is my System drive, Windows, important drivers, and unfortunately, Google Desktop just plants itself there. Most of Google’s softwares do that on Windows. Haven’t the time to customise the installers or anything. Carrera S has my documents, setups, music and music videos. Carrera GT has all applications, Scrubs – Season 2 and NFS – Most Wanted. Turbo has movies, rest of my games, comics and backups.

The thing is that, if I had just one partition, not only would I be risking the entire drive in the event of a Windows hijack, but fragmentation would also be more pronounced. Even if I split it into drives, I have to save the same amount of space. So, it makes my hard drive a much cleaner place.

Abhimanyu’s HDDs are a complete mess! He’s got 2 or 3 of them, totaling up to a decent 500GB. But they are completely disorganised. I had the opportunity to work on it before Code Wars, and man it was slow. He has a dual core and 4 GB of ram, BUT the files on his hard drive are just a pile of fragmented binary shit, making it much slower to load stuff that should actually take no time at all. My advice is that you should defragment your hard drives before running a virus scan, because with a non-fragmented filesystem, it’s much faster. In fact, before doing that, delete duplicate files. Like I mentioned my post of moving music earlier, my iTunes keeps copying music from the LimeWire’s download folder to the iTunes music folder. Change the LimeWire music folder to be the same as your iTunes folder and organise them manually, or let iTunes create a copy and delete the LimeWire copy.

Remember, too much hard disk strain may crash your hard drive. It’s like smoking. If you don’t quit soon, you’ll repent.
