Wetter than an otter!

By far, the best holi ever. OK, so I only have 4 pics, all of them in front of the mirror, but I couldn’t quite gather the courage to take a camera/mobile out today.

Before (the bulges in my pockets are balloons)

Day started out quite normal. Woke up and immediately started filling baloons (yes, I like to make life hell for passers-by). A common fact, is that 2/3rds of all the balloons will be duds – no elastic, or they’ll break once you start filling them.

Then Pritha called me over. Was feeling lonely, cuz there wasn’t anyone for Holi near her place that she knew. Decided to take the cycle, because I knew walking would only make me even more vulnerable.

After I got there, and after the initial gulaal, and some overhead baloons, decided to go back and get more baloons and my pichkari. It’s really fun, doing drive-by spraying. Now I know why the Mafia does it. It’s very, very addictive. Just random, unsuspecting people by the side of the road. Some take it in good spirit. Some shake their fists. Losers. After meeting up with Pritha, and some holi-CS, we went to her park, where there was a little get-together. Didn’t spend much time there, but sure got more colour on me…:-P

On the way back, I got egged. I had the option of not stopping, since i was on a cycle, but oh, what the heck. It’s another thing that I didn’t see the eggs till it was too late. They do wonders to your hair…better than any gel whatsoever. Yech… After that, I went with Sahil, and his family to the Pachsheel Club. That was supposed to be a mega thing. It sure was.

They had tanks of water, loads of good food, the works, basically. We also met up with some of Sahil’s extended family. Have a history with his uncle, widely acknowledged as the holi-king of the family. This time was no different. Colour all over, pichkaris abandoned, buckets of water flying all over, eggs, food…anything you name it, we got it.

After (although you can't see it, I'm very, VERY muddy and eggy at this time)

Also made two new friends, Vibhor and Abhijeet. My introduction to Abhijeet was quite abrupt. He asked for the bucket of water in my hands, and I gave it to him, on his head, that is. Got on quite well, and ended up wrestling in the mud with the both of them. At this point, I had got quite messy, so then I went and stood in front of the anti-riot-type water cannon. Was fun, as long as you kept your eyes protected. It really does push you back, the force of the water. Basically, it was the best fun I’ve had in a long time.
