These are some of the videos that I’ve made over the years. Don’t really know why I didn’t put up a dedicated page for them sooner, but hey, better late than never.

Code Wars 2006
Code Wars 2006 (also referred to as CW2006 or CW2k6) was the first Code Wars that I got an opportunity to make a video on. Code Wars is the annual inter-school computer symposium organized by my school’s technology club, Code Warriors. Basically a montage of event footage, pictures and a general mish-mash of game trailer footage. This was the first video I ever worked on, under the tutelage of Prannoy Sablok a.k.a. Grayfox. Video was made in about 2 days (actual time spent: 10-12 hours, excluding pre-event planning). Basically, footage being shot was being quickly offloaded on the PC on which I was working, and editing was live. Rendering was tense, because we were cutting it really fine, because the video was to be presented at the valedictory ceremony after all.

Code Wars 2007
Almost exactly an year after Code Wars 2006, I worked on the Code Wars 2007 video. Footage and expert camera work provided by Rachit Agarwal, Waris Jain, Amritanshu Kar and Feroze Kapoor, in no particular order. I experimented more with 3D this time, but to be honest, it didn’t turn out as expected, and there were a number of technical issues while transferring footage which added some severe time constraints which compromised the quality of this one. So this just compounded the time constraints that were already plaguing the project. Nevertheless, a decent job I say to myself (except for the plumes of smoke…what was I thinking!)

X-D
No, this is not some weird cross-eyed emoticon. Read ’10-D’, this video is about my class/grade 10th class. Basically a compilation of the pictures and odd video or two we took during our last few days before we all entered hibernation to study for the Class Xth Boards. Lots of good memories in this one. On the plus side, since there was no real time constraint on this video, it came out pretty polished. Spent ages agonizing over the tiniest of details. After watching this video, I inevitable end up with a broad grin over my face.

La Mode
This was a video I compiled for an inter-school French cultural event. Our school was supposed to showcase French fashion in a short video presentation. By this time, I’d built up a reputation of sorts for videos, so I was the natural choice of person to spearhead this effort. No original footage was involved in this one. Basically a montage of montages and videos, but duly edited and synced, along with some pleasant effects. First video to include original voice acting for the quotes. Also the first (and perhaps only) time I’ll record my voice in French. Worked with Vaibhav Gulati (effects), Aishwarya Gulati (female voice artist), Manisha Sondhi (my French teacher, and overall “hmm…that looks great…but I think we could…” authority) and Payal Naik (another French teacher and voice acting supervisor). Due credit to Payal ma’am for finding a nice recording studio for the voice acting.

The Benitez Familia
So far, this has been the best video I’ve made so far. Although it is incredibly niche (a video based on a video game), its the one I’ve put the most time, effort and planning into. This is a video based on a role-playing gaming clan I’m a member of. The game is Freelancer, an combat space simulator, and the Discover MOD adds further features to this already awesome game. Add to that the Discover 24/7 RP Server, and well, it’s pretty fun. Anyway, this was the first video that I conceptualized all by myself. I did the scene layouts, planning, organized shoot days, arranged positions, recorded footage, rerecorded footage. Basically the whole shebang. Add to that some nifty editing that spiced up an otherwise unremarkable video, and I have to say that as of today (2 March 2011), this is the best video I’ve ever made. The Benitez are among the most awesome bunch of people I’ve met online. (By the way, my in-game-pseudonym is Alfonso Benitez)
